E-Discussion

From 4-6 September an e-discussion ‘Conceptions of Information Literacy in an International Context’ will be held.

Some expert participants are invited to share their initial thoughts on the three topics, but everyone's contributions will make this discussion valuable.

Each of the 3 days will focus on a different area of information literacy. The discussion threads for the 3 days are as follows:

    

o    Day 1: What is information literacy? 

    

o    Day 2: What is the link between information literacy and research skills?

    

o    Day 3: What are the effective tools and approaches used in information literacy?

Poster

Although the concept of Information Literacy was born in a business environment (Zurkowski 1974) it became mainly the domain of librarians in an educational environment. At IFLA 2012 in Helsinki there was a poster presentation on an interesting project in a Brasilian petrol company by Marilda M. Coelho, Maria I. Cabral da Franca and Tatiana N.Cosmo.
